Springtime is right around the corner. There’s no better time to make sure your home’s air conditioner is ready to handle warmer temperatures; and higher humidity levels. Most of Dunn’s Heating and Cooling’s clients already have routine maintenance performed on their HVAC systems. There are several things you can do to ensure your air conditioner is ready to go. We’ve put together 4 Ways to Prepare Your AC for Spring and encourage you to complete these simple tasks before Spring arrives. At Dunns Heating Cooling Plumbing and Electrical we are your local choice in Anniston, AL for AC system maintenance. Trust our experience.

How to make your AC spring ready – AC System Maintenance

  1. Change Your Furnace Filter – This task is the easiest to accomplish. It can make the biggest impact on your HVAC system and your Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). A clean/new air filter can save up to 15% on energy usage, which can also positively impact your utility bills. If your air filter is permanent, set a regular schedule to take it out and thoroughly rinse it. If your air filter is temporary, change it according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  2. Dry Our Your AC’s dehumidifier: Here in Alabama, we know how invaluable our HVAC system’s dehumidifier is. To make sure it’ll work properly, and at maximum capacity, remove the external casing and let the entire system thoroughly dry out. Once it’s completely dry, vacuum it out to get rid of any debris or dirt that may have built up.
  3. Clean Your AC’s Drainage Hole: The majority of AC units have their drainage hole right at the cabinet’s base, which must be kept clear at all times. To make sure the hole is clear, first find the drainage hole at the base of the cabinet, underneath the evaporator fins. Then, clear out the hole with your hands, a paper clip, or another small piece of wire.
  4. Install a Smart Thermostat: Although it isn’t a requirement, adding a smart thermostat to your HVAC system will allow you to fully manage the temperature in your home while you’re there, and while you’re away. This can save you a lot of money on your monthly energy bills.

It’s crucial for all our Alabama neighbors to ensure their air conditioners are fully-ready for spring. Follow the simple steps above and contact Dunn’s Heating and Cooling to schedule a maintenance appointment today
